Inventory Management and Warehousing

 1. Inventory Management

An integrated inventory management strategy defines the policies and process used to determine where to place inventory, when to initiate replenishment shipments, and how much to allocate. As been state, all the Domino’s Pizza store around Malaysia and Singapore get the supplier for the raw materials to make pizza and other additional food from their master franchise holder which is Dommal Food Service Sdn.Bhd.
In order to make sure their processing in making the pizza work more efficient, the company need to put more focus on the inventory functionality which is the supply or demand balancing. The firm must make sure the level of inventory availability is always in a stable condition. This is because to avoid the stock out of raw materials that will affect the flow of order processing, preparing the order until the time to deliver the product.
For example like in Domino’s Pizza store in Kota Tinggi, Johor Bahru. The assistant manager said that at their store, they will renew the raw material stock every week. During the closing every day, the manager of stock will check the raw material that still available in their storage place and then record the data manually in a book. If they find out there are a ingredients needed  out of stock, so they will try to call the nearest Domino’s Pizza store to get the ingredients. Every week the manager will call the warehouse at Glenmarie Shah Alam to ask them to restock all the ingredients needed for their stores.
The inventory need to be store in a proper and suitable storage based on each of the product requirement. Some of the stock need to be store in a cold condition. This mean that it need specialty storage in order to maintain the quality and the condition of the product. For example, the frozen food like the dough, meat loaf and many more need to be store in the place with a lowest degree Celsius. The other specialize storage needed are chiller, frozen fridge and other else.

2. Warehousing

Warehousing is typically viewed as a place to hold or store inventory. Storage has always been an important aspect of economic development. In the pre-industrial era, storage was performed by individual households forced to function as self-sufficient economic units. Consumers performed
warehousing and accepted the attendant risks.

Domino’s Pizza in Malaysia and Singapore is managed by master franchise holder, Dommal Food Services Sdn.Bhd, located at Wisma Domino’s, Glenmarie Shah Alam. This mean that the company use private warehouse to store all the raw materials, machinery and so on. Private warehouse offer substantial control since management has authority to prioritize activities. Private warehouse is usually less costly than public warehousing because private facilities are not operated for a profit. They operated by the enterprise that owns the merchandise in the facility.

All the Domino’s Pizza store in Malaysia and Singapore get the supply for the raw materials to make pizza and other additional food from the factory or warehouse at Glenmarie Shah Alam. For example like the dough of the pizza, there are a machine that specialize to make the dough and it will be frozen before the dough is been distributed to the other Domino’s Pizza store around Malaysia and Singapore.
